Ștefan Buciuc is the CEO of BCR Social Finance IFN SA and Head of the Social Banking Division at Banca Comercială Română (BCR).
He has held this position since July 2018 and also serves as the President of the Romanian Microfinance Network. His career focuses on social finance, supporting NGOs, social enterprises, and impact-driven organizations through tailored financial products and services.
Ștefan holds an EMBA from WU Executive Academy in Vienna and a doctorate in Finance and Insurance from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. His extensive experience spans banking operations, social finance, and financial inclusion.
Under his leadership, BCR Social Finance has launched innovative programs such as the Marc program, aimed at scaling social impact organizations across Romania, Austria, and Hungary. He emphasizes real, sustainable social impact, financial education for NGOs, and collaboration between public and private sectors to foster social entrepreneurship.
Recent initiatives include financing NGOs like Help Autism and offering zero-collateral student loans for those under 45 to support further education. Ștefan is an advocate for social entrepreneurship and inclusive finance in Romania.
