Petr Šmíd is an Investment Partner at Rockaway Capital, where he focuses on early-stage and growth investments across Central and Eastern Europe.
His work centers on helping ambitious founders scale their companies from seed to Series A and beyond, with the goal of positioning CEE startups on the global stage.
Before Rockaway, Petr spent over a decade at Google, leading some of the company’s most impactful product launches in the region. He oversaw the rollout of Google Pay and Google Assistant across more than ten CEE countries, proving that the region could set global benchmarks for adoption and growth. He also expanded Google’s B2B advertising business tenfold, enabling digital companies from CEE to expand internationally.
Earlier in his career, Petr worked at McKinsey & Company in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, advising leading banks, healthcare players, and technology firms on commercial strategy, growth, and operations. His combined experience in consulting, big tech, and venture capital gives him a unique perspective on scaling businesses and building competitive advantage in international markets.
Today, at Rockaway Capital, Petr draws on this background to back visionary entrepreneurs and guide them through the challenges of early growth. He is committed to turning the CEE region into a source of globally recognized technology leaders.
