György Simó is a prominent figure in Central and Eastern Europe’s tech investment landscape, renowned for his deep understanding of both media and venture capital. As Managing Partner at Day One Capital in Budapest, he specializes in fueling early-stage, B2B software ventures across the CEE region, blending entrepreneurial instinct with investor experience.

György Simó began his career in journalism, playing a founding role in Budapest’s community radio station Radio Tilos and helping create Origo, Hungary’s leading internet portal. In 1998, he joined Magyar Telekom Group, and by 2003 he had become CEO of T-Online Hungary. There, he led new media acquisitions, e-commerce and data services expansions, and launched Kitchen Budapest—the company’s innovation and R&D hub. From 2008 onward, as COO of the Alternative Businesses and Corporate Development unit, he further honed his ability to support startup growth and strategic business development.

Under his leadership, Day One Capital has established itself as a key early-stage VC player in the region. Operating with a fund of approximately €34 million, the firm typically invests €300,000 to €1.5 million in promising tech startups. György leverages his corporate, media, and operational background to mentor founders through strategic scaling, investor relations, and international growth.
