80k USD grants for researchers and entrepreneurs, from the Romanian American Foundation

The Romanian American Foundation has developed the ARTIE (Applied Research, Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fellowship) Program, offering grants of up to 80.000 USD.

Benefiting of total funds of 600.000 USD, ARTIE will offer applied research proof of concept grants in science, mathematics, engineering and information technology. The grants are dedicated both to researchers that aim to embody their technology into a product and take it into market, as well as entrepreneurs that build their product on significant technological innovation.

ICEEfest launches “200 Seconds of Fame” for startups

ICEEfest – Interactive Central & Eastern European Festival – will take place on June 6th & 7th in Bucharest. In its first year as a regional event, evolving from the local event known up to now as RoNewMedia, ICEEfest launches the “200 Seconds of Fame” program, offering startups the occasion to go on stage together with representatives of the industry giants like Google, Facebook, Skype or Yahoo.

So, if you’re a startup in the digital space (technology, interactive, mobile etc.) and you have a launched or very close to launch product, you have the opportunity to pitch on the ICEEfest stage. Startup pitches will be interlaced between the conference talks and panels, each startup getting its own timed 200 seconds of fame to present itself to the audience.

Innovation Labs Demo Day – 11 teams will be pitching on May 22nd

Innovation Labs Demo Day will take place next Wednesday at TechHub Bucharest. The 3-month mentorship-intensive program will be showcasing the 11 startups that are graduating the program.

Innovation Labs is an initiative of TechSoup Romania and Tech-Lounge, supported by Microsoft Romania. The program aims to cover the up-to-now missing link in the Romanian startup environment by taking the entrepreneurial culture into tech universities, to students 20 to 25 years old.

During the 3 months of program, teams of students got to experiment their own ideas and products in a mentor based environment, where experienced coaches helped them build their products while also helping them understand the basics of product development and entrepreneurship.
